PURE PRO FREESTYLE SAIL WITH EXTRA STRENGTH AND WAVE DNA.
A revolutionary freestyle sail concept with incredible acceleration, broad wind range and perfect ducking behaviour.
While sizes 3.6, 4.0, 4.4 and 4.8 are based on Nil's demand for no-compromise competition sails, the 5.2LW is a carefully modified low-wind sail with extra boom length, extra profile depth and extra horsepower to get you planing and spinning as early as possible in light wind while avoiding big and uncomfortable sail sizes. If you want performance freestyle sails plus the most powerful and light 5.2 you've ever seen... look no further and order your 4STYLE set now!

Strong x-ply materials and clever reinforcements on the leeches, battens and pulley make the 4Style strong enough to be used in waves but at the same time our design team saved a lot of weight where it wasn't needed. They have crafted an incredibly light sail that's light in grams but feels even lighter in your hands while sailing. We've carefully optimised the material mix to give the 4Style an unparalleled strengh-to-weight ratio. Reduced batten-overlap, new computer-optmised reinforcements in foot, clew and top a redesigned foot protector plus new lighter batten tensioners have brought down the weight of this sail by more than 250g compared to our 4batten wave sail without compromising too much on the strength and durability of the sail - yes we could have gone even lighter, thinner more extreme... but want this sail to last and we want this sail to tear down the wall between wave and freestyle.
Developed by Patrik Diethelm, Fabio Canella and Henning Terstiege. Tested and Worldcup approved by Nil Bacon Aubert and the PATRIK freestyke team.
BACKHAND POWER CONTROL 2.0
By using a special mix of materials from the mast sleeve via the luff panel, the center area to the leech we can control the twist and flex of the sail by the material selection. This revolutionary design concept taken from our wave sais results in extremely efficient and powerful sails that can be controlled with ease. Always have some extra horsepower ready and waiting to be unleashed with one pull on the boom with your backhand. Get the extra pop, the extra lift and that little bit of extra speed to push your moves to the next level.
AEROFIT BOOM POSITIONING (ABP)
This unique and brand new feature eliminates all downsides of a traditional boom opening. By reducing the open area at the leading edge of the sail we have improved the aerodynamic efficiency of the sail. This results in a wider total range of use. The second effect of the ABP is the limited range of movement of the sail body in the boom area. The sail will be more stable in the gusts and will react much quicker in any rotations.
HOW TO USE: Always open a minimum of two sections to mount your boom. This gives the flexibility to play with your boom height in case the conditions are changing. If you expect to share your sail with a taller or smaller rider during one session simply open more sections while rigging the 4Style.
The concept of the 4Stylel was heavily influenced simply by watching and analyzing top freestyle riders around the world rigging their freestyle sails:
Why do they untighten the foot batten until the sail is full of wrinkles?
Why do they use so little downhaul that the sail body is not even properly tensioned in the boom area?
Why do they put relatively strong outhaul tension?
The answer for us was simply and clear: A freestyle sail in our understanding should behave almost like a reversed normal sail. At least this is what most riders are desperately searching in other brand's sails: (1) Maximum power in the top. (2) A stiff trailing edge with almost zero loose leech. (3) Neutral in the boom area and below.
Guess what? The search is over!! We have created anew breed of a freestyle sail that can finally be rigged properly with a good amount of downhaul without going too flat in the top or having too much of a free leech.... and it will simply feel like the best freestyle sail you've ever had because more tension on the sail body creates more control in your moves. Proper tension on the battens allows for a locked draft and a wide trim range. On top of that our unique and wide Dacron Luff Panel gives you a big trim range on downhaul and outhaul.
Use the upper eyelet for pure freestyle use as it will keep the trailing edge closed and give you more power in the top.
Use the lower eyelet in waves as the sail will have more release and feel more agile and playful in your turns.
PRO TIP:
Choose the -2cm downhaul setting as a reference for pro freestyle use. Note that the sail will be extremely baggy and powerful in the top.
Use the outhaul to control the amount of power you want from the sail. Again start with the -2 outhaul setting. If it's too powerful don't change the downhaul, pull more outhaul first!
NIL BACON (Professional Windsurfer, Waterman)
"The new 4Style is just amazing. I feel totally IN THE SOFA and I tell you this is the best feeling when sailing: Constant power but controlled mellow power combined with perfect and easy ducking - that's what literally any freestyler is hoping to find in a freestyle sail. The 4Style does it all and it feels super light in my hands. During powermoves it unleashes extra horsepower to catapult you up and away like no other - Raw power... in the sofa!!"
FABIO CANELLA (R&D Team)
"We put power in the top and then we put more power in the top. As we realised the guys still don't wanna put any downhaul we added MASSIVE power to the top! This is the first freestyle sail that can be rigged properly without compromising the power, lift and ducking. Our unique luff curve and material mix makes ducking a walk in the park. For crossover wave/freestyle use simply put 2cm more downhaul and outhaul, switch to the lower eyelet and happily take your 4STYLE into the waves."
